Microsoft Windows 10 Professional Activate and Upgrade Guide
Follow this guide to prepare your device, download Windows 10 Pro, install it, and activate it with your product key.
Step 1: Preparing your device
- 1 GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB RAM for 32-bit or 2 GB RAM for 64-bit
- 16 GB storage for 32-bit or 32 GB for 64-bit
- DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
- 800 x 600 display
Always back up important files before installing or upgrading Windows.
Step 2: Download and install
Download link: Microsoft official download page
- Open the download page.
- Choose Installation Assistant or Media Creation Tool.
- Create a USB/DVD installer if you want a clean installation.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
- When asked for edition, choose Windows 10 Pro.
Step 3: Activate Windows 10 Pro
- Open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security > Activation.
- Click Change product key.
- Enter your 25-character key.
- Click Next and wait for activation confirmation.
Upgrade option
If Windows 10 Home does not upgrade directly with your purchased key, use the generic Pro upgrade key while offline, then reconnect and activate with your purchased key.
- Disconnect from the internet.
- Open Activation settings.
- Enter Microsoft’s generic upgrade key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T.
- Reconnect to the internet after Windows upgrades to Pro.
- Enter the product key you purchased to complete activation.
